I found a page on symphonic metal. I was so happy I did a little dance, but then I started to feel anxious.

The band’s break-up has led to an increase in similar bands

In collaborative projects such as bands, it’s common for groups to split up or for members to leave, resulting in the formation of several new bands. Whilst this is disappointing for listeners at the time, in the long run it’s a welcome development as it means there’s more content to suit everyone’s tastes.

The anxiety that comes from knowing that once I get bored, it’s all over

New releases simply stop coming out once the creators lose interest. In niche genres, the sense of loss is particularly acute. With no business model in place that generates sufficient revenue to satisfy them, all we can do is hope they don’t realise that, even if they satisfy their need for validation, it doesn’t even amount to a mere distraction. It’s, in a sense, a form of volunteering for our sake.
